Abstract
Powder metallurgy method was used to prepare nickel-based samples enriched with nano-chromium at a fixed ratio of 5 %wt. Different percentages of nano-titanium oxide were added at (0, 5, 10, 15, 20) %wt. . A 10 mm diameter die was used and the pressing process was carried out with a hydraulic press in one direction at a pressure of 10 tons. The resulting alloys were sintered at 1000°C for two hours. Several tests were performed, including X-ray diffraction of the primary and post-mixed powders, which showed that the nickel was in the FCC (Cubic) system and completely pure, the nano-chromium was in the BCC (Cubic) system, and the nano-titanium oxide was in the tetragonal system with Anatase phase. The results of the field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) showed a distinct surface structure with each nano addition, and the best addition percentage was (20 %wt.) of nano titanium oxide. The results of the energy distribution spectroscopy (EDS) gave clear values of the elements participating in the reaction without significant impurities, as titanium and oxygen appeared separately. The microscopic Vickers hardness was also measured, and it was found that the best was (20 %wt.) of nano titanium oxide, amounting to 152 kg/mm2, after thermal sintering of the prepared samples.
